this is NOT a film festival

When I left film school I’d probably worked on no less than 50 films. Maybe three or four of them saw the light of day.

Short films don’t really make money. But they’re pretty wonderful pieces of art. Proof of concepts for budding and established film makers. So many get made and end up on usb sticks or DVDs on a shelf.

this is NOT a film festival sought to take all the competition out of screening short films. It catered consistently to an enthusiastic sold out audience over several events between 2010-2012. It screened locally made Oscar winning short films, Cannes film festival best short film winners alongside films shot on mini dv and early iPhones. Good story won.

Held every now and then at the upstairs cinema room at 1000 £ Bend on Little Lonsdale St, they were a perfect union of enthusiastic audiences and film makers to mingle and present new short films, animations, music videos, documentaries and have a drink with live music/djs.

I should do another one soon…
